Brazilian & Boyzilian Wax FAQ
Everything first-timers ask, answered plainly — for men and women alike. Still unsure? Call or text; we would rather talk it through.
What is a Brazilian / Boyzilian wax?
This is the whole Hoochicoochi® — the removal of hair down there, anywhere from completely bare to a small strip of hair.
How long should I grow my hair out?
If you have been shaving, about 7–9 days of growth will do. The hair must be at least ¼ inch long — about the length of a grain of rice — to be removed.
How long is too long?
Don't worry about the hair being too long, and please don't trim it. If you do, it may be too short for the wax to grip and remove effectively.
Does it hurt?
Everyone is different and it depends on your pain tolerance. The wax we use does not stick to the skin — as it dries it shrink-wraps around the hair. When pulled, the hair is removed leaving little to no irritation, and therefore less pain.
When should I come back?
At least 3–5 weeks. If you keep up the maintenance the hair comes out easier and it's less painful. We also offer package deals.
What should I do afterwards?
Not all bodies and skin types are the same, and there should be little to no irritation. Occasionally a first-time client experiences some bumps — that's the hair follicles waking up. We carry a product called “Get the Bump Outa Here” for bumps and ingrown hairs.
Are there times to avoid getting a Brazilian?
Just before your monthly cycle is not ideal, since the whole body is more sensitive. The best window is right after your cycle up to seven days before the next one. Caffeine is a stimulant too, so a fresh coffee can add to the ouch factor. For very low pain tolerance we carry “No Screem Cream,” which numbs the area.
How long does an appointment take?
We only hire very experienced licensed estheticians, so a Brazilian takes roughly 10–20 minutes depending on your hair. We allow 30 minutes for every Brazilian so you never feel rushed.
